Do I need a key or an account?
No. Just send the GET.
Is there a usage limit?
This API sets no limit of its own, but the providers do: ReceitaWS accepts about 3 requests per minute and paginated search may answer 429.
Can I use it in production?
You can, but with no availability guarantee: we depend on the providers and promise no service level. If your system cannot go down, have your own version (see the question below).
How do I build my own CNPJ API?
A good base to start from is the BrasilAPI project, which is open source. To host the full Receita database, also see how to set up your own Minha Receita server.
Does alphanumeric CNPJ work?
Yes, the format and digits are validated here. If the provider does not have that CNPJ yet, you get 404.
Why do the fields change?
Because the response is the one from the provider that answered. The X-Source header says which.
